I'm 43 today! That's a good number I think. A good age. I decided I just wanted a quiet birthday in this year because sometimes alone is my favorite way to spend a day. Must be an only-child thing. This lovely cake was made for me by my friends Meg & Zach and their most-beautiful-baby-in-the-world, Zelda. :) I'm not sure how Zelda helped since she's only 5 months old, but she just makes everything better. We had a small early birthday celebration last week which was just perfect.
I actually spent most of today at our gorgeous university library (seriously, I'll have to take a photo of it to show you sometime) working on a paper for school. Then it was a stop at the grocery store to pick up ingredients for *drum roll please* a Pineapple Ginger Smoothie! mmm….
To make your very own, just blend these few ingredients:
1½ cups diced fresh pineapple
1 banana
½ cup greek yogurt
1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger
½ cup ice
½ cup pineapple juice
I don't know if the smoothie will really go with this, but I'm also making fish tacos for dinner. It all sounds yummy to me!
The proverbial icing on the cake today was finding this for $6 bucks when I made my last stop to rent a movie…
I snatched it up and literally clutched it to my chest! I loved the first season of this and hadn't yet found the second season for rent around here. {Yes, apparently I'm the last person in the world to not join Netflix.} What a treat to find it like that! The funny thing is it was actually on my Amazon wish list and my Mom had already ordered it for me. Oops. :) Anyway, I love this so much because it helps me to imagine what it will be like when I have my own counseling practice. Even if you don't aspire to be a therapist, the writing, acting, and dialogue are all so amazing. The episodes are fairly short and I just can't take my eyes off the screen when they're on. That's saying something for me too, because I'm almost always doing two things at once.
Other good things today, in no particular order:
- My chickens seem to be laying again after being on strike for nearly 6 months;
- I got on the scale this morning and had lost 10 pounds since I last checked;
- My daughter–who last Friday was in 2 separate car accidents–is doing just fine;
- I'm now in my third year of school and am so glad I started when I did. It's never too late to be what you might have been.
That's all for now. ♥
