This weekend my friend Meg and I hit the road (with her 3 puppy dogs!) to Homer. That's an awesome little coastal town a couple hundred miles south of Anchorage. The drive – as you can see from the photo above – is beautiful. Here's another shot from right out the car window…
I just never get tired of Alaska. :)
The puppies had a good time on the beach. Here are the two corgi's…
Well, their behinds anyway! We also saw a bit of wildlife. I think this squirrel thought I couldn't see him behind that blade of grass…
A colorful pheasant crossed our path a couple times…
And we saw a moose while we were on our way to the bakery for our morning coffee…
A little art was made during the trip as well. Seldovia is a small community right across the bay from Homer. This ad for it made me want to paint a picture…
So I did! Here's my watercolor version of Seldovia.
We ended up being in Homer the weekend before a lot of things open for the summer, so it was really nice to be able to walk around some of the shops on the spit before all the tourists land. I thought this was a clever wind-break on one of the shop decks…
It's usually very windy out there, but it was surprisingly calm during our visit. Lastly, I love this coffee place sign…
The one drawback to being there a week before things opened…no coffee to be had that day. 🙂
