Brooch always seems like a funny word to me. :) I have a TON of felted sweaters but I'm never sure what to make from them. I was looking around for ideas and found the flower directions from Betz White, who is the queen of all things felty.
The wooden button in the middle seemed to go really well with the muted tones of the flower.
I also tried making this little monogram pin (ok, brooch!) using cross-stitch fabric and a bit of the same felted sweater.
It came out pretty cute I think, but boy…cross-stitching takes so much longer than regular embroidery! It had been so long (20 years maybe?) since I'd done any that I forgot that every stitch is really 2 – to make the "x" over each square.
So – those projects used about 10 square inches out of my several yards of felt. :) I'm hatching some other ideas though, so eventually it will all get used.

Great flower Karen! I just took a felting class (we made felted dogs) with Elise Strauss and I’m hooked too! :o)
Hi Cindy,
Thanks! I saw the post with your felted dog…so cute! I love needle felting, but it takes me so long to finish my projects. Too much poking! (And accidentally sticking my fingers.)
I know Elise’s lampwork, but didn’t know she did needle felting too. So talented that one. 🙂
