On the first day of our Maui trip, we went on a 6 hour snorkeling cruise with the Pacific Whale Foundation. I brought a disposable underwater camera with me and just got the photos back today. They don't do justice to how beautiful and clear the water was, but it is nice to have a reminder of this adventure.
In the photo above, I like how the sunbeams are streaming down through the water. You can see a bunch of black & yellow fish all along just under the surface. They were all around us the whole time. In the image below you can see a pretty yellow fish right in the middle. What didn't show up were some of the larger fish we could see hanging out just under the edge of some of these coral growths. I tried turning the camera back on myself too…
Didn't work too well, did it?! :o)
Other than getting a little sea-sick at one point, it was really a wonderful day. We saw so many Humpback whales too. Not while we were in the water thankfully…that would have been a little overwhelming. But they kept coming up all around the boat . At one point the captain had to kind of slam on the breaks and stop short for a whale that popped up right in front of us. So amazing.
