Practice

Girl_7438 Thought I'd better draw & paint a bit before I lose the ability.  :)  Most every time I make something, I'm reminded how important creative play is to me.  It doesn't have to be much…just making a little something every day.  The process is so satisfying.

Have you heard the term being "in flow"?  (Or "flow-state" maybe?  I'm sure there are other terms for the same thing.)  It describes those times when you are so at-one with your activity that you lose time.  An hour feels like a few minutes.  Or you feel like you've just finished your morning coffee and already the sun is starting to set.  Everything is going well…even when there's a problem to solve, everything is clicking.  I hear athletes feel it when they're performing at their best.  I experience it when I spend time creating.  Not to sound too "woo-woo", but it seems like the time when I'm doing what the universe wants me to do.  What I'm made for.  Which isn't to say everything comes out well ~ just that the process is working, flowing.  Nice.

Anyway, I received the self-published book of my blog in the mail today.  Seeing everything in print like that is really wonderful and gives me incentive to keep this part of my life a priority no matter what else is going on (school, full time job, etc…)   I like having a diary of my art.  A little snap-shot of my year.

So here we go into year 3 of the blog!  Thank you for continuing to visit.
