Wisdom & Change

Wise is a favorite word of mine.  When I find myself worrying about things I have no control over – the question "are you being a wise woman?" can snap be right back into a more balanced perspective. 

I had been wanting a Kelly Rae original painting & was just waiting for one that spoke to me.  This was it.  🙂

This particular piece of art also seemed like an appropriate present to myself in celebration of a new direction I'm taking in life.  This year – in 11 days – I start college with the goal of becoming a therapist. 

I've been drawn to this for a long time, but the thought of starting college at 40 years old was just so daunting.  It will be an almost 10 year journey for me to become a counselor with the training, experience and license to work for myself.  I'm a little scared, but so excited to begin! 

The target may change as I move through my schooling, but right now I feel pulled toward counseling people dealing with grief, life changes, "stuckness" and relationship issues.  I also have a very strong desire to work with individuals in law enforcement on the specific emotional and relationship challenges they face.

There are some other exciting challenges on the horizon for me in 2010 too, but I think I'll wait a few months before revealing those.  School is one of the changes I alluded to awhile back.  I didn't want to say anything until I was enrolled and everything was set.  Similarly, if I mention my other goals before they're fully in motion – I just know myself and I'm afraid talking about them will take the energy out of doing them.
