Finished my second little box this afternoon! I've always liked my scuba girl & her snapping crab friend, so it was fun to revisit this one. I added a few details with my gel marker that aren't in the original + I'm happy with how the sides of this box came out…kind of a dappled water-blue. (The box it's sitting on is the one I posted yesterday.)
Each one will have a tag on the back that reads: "Handmade Original Art by…"
Ok, now I have to show you what inspired scuba girl!
That's me doing the scariest thing EVER. :) This was my very first dive in 2005 right outside of Seward, Alaska. {Hence, the dry suit…super cold water.} I learned to dive precisely because I never thought I could. It was a HUGE challenge to myself. Despite that smile on my face, I was terrified. But I did it!
I have to admit that I have not become an avid diver. But I have my own fins and a really cool BCD. Maybe if I visit someplace tropical I'd try it again. {You don't have to wear so much gear in warm water.} It would be cool to see a sea turtle swimming by, wouldn't it?
Do you have a mental list of things you think you could never do? Things that seem too big to even dream? What would it take to just try? What would really be the worst that could happen? (Ok, in my case I thought I might drown or be eaten by a killer whale. But I took reasonable precautions to make sure those things didn't happen!) Ok, now what would be the best outcome? What's stopping you? ๐

Hi! I love those little boxes! And I can’t believe you went scuba diving…that’s something that scares me a bit. I did go snorkeling a few times in Hawaii and did see a huge sea turtle swim by. Very beautiful!! ๐ Silke
Hi Silke ~ How great that you got to see a turtle! That gives me hope that I don’t have to be 40 feet beneath the surface to see some neat ocean life. ๐ Snorkeling seems a lot less scary.
