For years I've wanted to try making my own marshmallows. I don't know why I waited for so long, but I was finally inspired to do it by Emily's fancy treats. I used the same Martha recipe she recommended.
Don't they look so pretty when they're whipping around? They set up much faster than I expected! I thought the wisk looked kind of cool and cob-webby.
That should have been my first clue as to how sticky the mixture would be. I almost got hopelessly trapped trying to get the last bits off the spatula and into the pan.
Now we just have to wait until tomorrow for them to set up. I think I'll try cutting a few heart shape ones, and then do the rest just big and blocky. Can't wait! We sampled a bit and mmmmm. ♥
Update: Big Ooops! One of the best things about this recipe is the 2 tablespoons of yummy vanilla. *wait for it* Which I forgot to put in! Lordy. I'll call this my test run. At least it's not as bad as the time I made a Lemon Meringue pie and forgot the lemon. That was kinda noticeable.
