Art at 1/2 the Size

7_done_1413 Usually, I work with 12×12" canvases.  I love the square format, but I'm starting to run out of wall space!  This girl was done on a 6×6" (approx.) canvas that I found at Michaels.  The canvases were pre-printed with nautical themes…

Out came the paper and the gel medium…
3_layers_0929 After adding in a little more texture {lace, some tissue paper from an old pattern} I sketched in a girl and experimented with what she might hold in her hand…

5_paint_0950 I thought she was going to be a red-head…
6_almost_0965 The dress came out really pretty, but the hair just needed to be lighter.
1_part_1414 Here she is with her white hair!  I had given her some freckles & she kept those even though she's no longer a red-head.  If you'd like her to come live with you, she's available in my shop.  🙂
