We're far enough past winter solstice now, that it's still light when I get off work at 4:30. (Just a month ago that wouldn't have been the case.) So, at the end of not-my-best day, I took a drive out toward a scenic viewpoint just past the airport. As I rounded the last corner, instead of looking over toward the inlet, I happened to look up in the other direction. This scene struck me as so beautiful. Even with the heavy industrial fence that skirts the edge of the airport – the play of light & shadow, snow & clouds, was just perfect. That moment was actually the second instance of beauty in an unexpected place today.
This was the first: Surprising beauty in a TV commercial. My friend Candice is taking a sign language course at the university. As part that class, she had been looking online to find examples of deaf culture in media. If you have 4 minutes, take a look at the ad she found from Thailand. It's for a product that you'll recognize at the very end, but that you'd never guess while watching it. I had to replace the link because the original video was removed from YouTube. The new video has the product right in the title, so it's not a surprise – but it's still worth a look. 🙂
