Aside from being a fun word to say, Blurb is a wonderful little (big?) book company where you can print your own book. I had heard of them years ago, but it was only recently that I found out they had developed software to convert a blog into book format. So of course…I now have a "hard copy" record of the first year of my blog! So fun!
I feel so official now that I'm in print. :o) If you have a blog, I really encourage you to get one of these. You can buy just the one, or purchase many copies. But I just think it's a great idea to have as back up to all that work that goes into your online presence. Now, if I ever decided to stop paying typepad or don't want to keep up with it anymore – I still have a journal of all my artsy/craftsy adventures. ♥

Hi, I found your blog via Artsy Mama’s Art Nest post. I’ve been enjoying looking at your artwork and I love your description of Art Nest (‘art is my happy place’–so true!). I’ve been blogging with typepad for nearly 4 years and have been meaning to have each year printed as a book. I’ve been to lazy to go and check it out though–and now they have software that will convert for you?? I am so there! How did you find the process–easy, time-consuming? Thanks so much and Happy belated Birthday!
Hi Jen!
First, I just looked at your blog – how fun that you got to take a class with Mimi Kirchner! I just Love the tea cup pin cushions she does and yours & your mom’s turned out so sweet.
So – the blurb thing. Do it! 🙂 They have a little download that they call “slurp” because it sucks in all your blog content. Cool, right? So much easier than the cut & paste. I spent about 16 hours editing my content, tweaking photo placement, etc. But I love working on the computer & in Photoshop, so the time didn’t bug me. I’m sure it could be much faster as they have a bunch of templates to choose from that are very cute without any customizing. One thing to watch for though: if you have any BOLD words (or italics) part way down in your post, for some reason the software will only grab the words starting at that point. It misses everything before the bold/italic part. So I went through post by post to make sure all my content was there & had to do a couple cut & pastes. Hope that helps!
