Tree Practice
Just a tree. Not too bad. But really, I was inspired by this… So I've got a ways to go, right? Not that I was trying to copy exactly, but sometimes mimicking is a good way to practice as your own style develops. I love her whole concept and all the details. The tree even

From Australia to Rwanda (sort of)
I've been away from painting & creating for quite awhile. (Just part of my normal creative cycle.) So this girl is just some playing I did after being inspired by an online class I'm taking…Taught by Jane Davenport out of Australia – it's easily the best e-course I've ever taken. She's the real deal. By

Girl at Play
Maybe it's the color combos, but these critters remind me of the Calico Cat & the Gingham Dog storybook I had as a kid. Or maybe they remind me of stuffed animals I had…I don't quite recall, but there's something nostalgic for me here. It's all thanks to Carla Sonheim that I started doodling tonight.

Betz White Workshop
Oh my gosh, I am SO excited to have found the announcement for this felted birdhouse workshop! I saw these two photos online years ago… and saved them in my "cute felt things" file just to admire once in awhile. I hadn't looked at Betz's blog for awhile ~ I don't really sew, but I

A Gift from Across the Pond
Lookee what arrived in the mail yesterday! An original drawing from the oh-so-talented & prolific Micki Wilde of The Secret Hermit Art & Illustration. That's one cute moose. :) The painting she's admiring is a tiny version of this one that lives right by my art-making table. Before I know it I'll have a whole

Adding to My Collection
Look what arrived in the mail today! This is the 3rd painting by Micki Wilde that has come to live with me. I just love her work. This was my birthday present to myself. 🙂 If you see something in her shop that you like, be sure to grab it fast. I've missed out on

Wisdom & Change
Wise is a favorite word of mine. When I find myself worrying about things I have no control over – the question "are you being a wise woman?" can snap be right back into a more balanced perspective. I had been wanting a Kelly Rae original painting & was just waiting for one that spoke

Thanks, Gloria 🙂
Last February I was lucky enough to attend Art Nest {a creative retreat } for my 40th birthday. I had high hopes that it would be an amazing experience & that I would learn some new art techniques ~ it was & I did. But what I did not anticipate were some of the lasting

Karen’s World
The title of this post is also the title of this painting by Julie 'Haymaker' Thompson. She painted me with my chickens! I could not let this creation go live with anyone else so I snapped it right up from her Etsy shop. Can't wait to have it on my wall! ♥

Details
Details make all the difference, don't they? I started this little needle-felted person a few days ago & just finished it up tonight. Love those wool felt wings with their pink, blanket stitch edging. :) For scale in this photo, I have it sitting {appropriately} on top of a 3×3" canvas I bought from Julie
