Painting

Thought I'd better draw & paint a bit before I lose the ability.  :)  Most every time I make something, I'm reminded how important creative play is to me.  It doesn't have to be much…just making a little something every day.  The process is so satisfying.  Have you heard the term being "in flow"?  (Or

  • Today was a good day.

Listening to Tori Amos: Beekeeper and Rufus Wainwright.  Painted this tree & she turned out just like I imagined.  My heart is pretty happy today.  ♥

  • Karen’s World

The title of this post is also the title of this painting by Julie 'Haymaker' Thompson.  She painted me with my chickens!  I could not let this creation go live with anyone else so I snapped it right up from her Etsy shop.  Can't wait to have it on my wall! ♥

  • Cold Weather

Had fun today painting this girl on an 8×10" canvas.  The words in the corner say "Letting go". With the temperatures hanging at around zero, staying inside to paint seemed pretty inviting this weekend.  The cold temps do tend to go hand-in-hand with clear skies though, which made for a gorgeous view of Anchorage on

  • Sisters, part II

Done, I think.  At least they have eyes & lips now!  I may do a few more dress details…a necklace or something.  As sometimes is the case for me, I have to live with them for a little while before deciding if they're really complete. ♥

  • Playing with Paints

It's been a very long time since I've painted a girl.  Feels good to know I haven't forgotten how!  :)  Just taking a break before I continue on with her face, hair & other details.   The background went through a few incarnations before I settled on what you see above.  Here's what it looked like

  • Bees, birds, interesting connections & a wonderfully spooky story.

The Jardin box on the bottom is the one I mentioned yesterday as the "before" of my project.   When I saw them at Michael's, I really loved the shape & they were a great $ deal.  {About $4 each I think?}  I knew the word on the box was French, but actually had to look

More fun with the wood burner!  Earlier this summer I purchased 3 little tray/box things from Michael's.  (I'll show you a "before" photo tomorrow.)  I knew when I bought them that I would sand the finish back down to plain wood.  But where to go from there? The watercolors were giving such promising results with
