Treats, friends & a bossy bird.
I didn't think anything could top my long weekend at Art Nest, but I came home to some wonderful birthday treats! My friend Meg made these gorgeous cupcakes. They were all dense & fudgey ~ my favorite. I love the color combo of the dark chocolate & pretty dried flowers + I think the frosting

C is for Cookie
Did I mention the wonderful Art Nest food? Well, in addition to all the yummy goodies Candice & Julie prepared, Lorraine also brought these scrumptious cookies. There are no words to describe how much we all loved them! She was kind enough to share the recipe and gave me permission to post it here too.

Breakfast with Friends
Meet Lorie, Natalie & one of our oh-so-talented teachers, Kelly Rae. Lorie was one of my 2 roomies at Art Nest. Luckily, she & I & Diana all liked a chilly room to sleep in so we kept our window cracked at night. It sounds like a small thing, but rooming with people you've never

Valentine’s Candy
I ♥ Necco hearts. Especially the yellow & white ones. But for some real decadence, check out these creations by Vosges Haut Chocolat. I'm actually not a big chocolate fan, but these are very different. +I'm a sucker for everything they do with their packaging. Isn't that purple heart wonderful? They publish a great catalog

They're scrumptious & so pretty pink. Also gettin' fancy with the shapes…I think I'll be sad when February leaves. {It really is my favorite.} Only 6 days 'till Valentine's! ♥

Happy New Year!
Chinese New Year of course…2009, the year of the Ox! Not a holiday I normally celebrate, but any occasion for a cookie, right? :) I was inspired by these wafer papers from Fancy Flours. +New year's resolutions not going so well? Think of this as a re-start opportunity. Ready? Go! ♥

Marshmallow victory ~ finally!
Like I mentioned in yesterday's post, the candy thermometer broke when I was making these. I had to use the old fashioned method of dropping the hot sugar mixture in cold water to check the temp. Haven't tried that since high school, so I wasn't totally confident these would come out. But whoa Nelly, they
