We spent a really great afternoon at the Alaska Zoo today. I just love these cute goats!

I'm always torn when it comes to my feelings about zoos. I love to see the animals, but it can be sad to see them cooped up. The saving grace of the Alaska Zoo is that so many of the animals (most maybe?) are ones that would never have made it in the wild. The Bald Eagles, Polar Bears, Seals & Otters, Wolves…all have ended up here because of being injured or orphaned. So we get the privilege of seeing such beautiful creatures up close.
The bears were huge & amazing. I was unable to get a good photo of them without the bars of their enclosure in the way so I won't post them here, but…take a look at these claws: Yikes! Those are about 4" long. Makes you realize how they can break into cabins right through the wall like they do. This guy was sound asleep & kept flexing his claws ~ maybe he was dreaming of catching salmon.
Ok, folks…it's back to the craft table for me. I've got my doll & another big project in the works, but I'm trying to hold off on showing them until they're done. Hope you're enjoying your Easter weekend! ♥
