It's true! Eggs DO come from chickens! :) I was trying to be patient, but had begun to wonder if my hens were ever going to lay. I went out tonight though to find this pale blue beauty laid by Camilla. Now I see why hens of the Araucana breed are sometimes referred to as Easter egg chickens. So pretty!
This is not the momma of that egg (that's Penny in the photo) but I couldn't get Camilla to come over for her close up. She was too busy scratching around in the dirt. Since they have to stay 'cooped up' inside all winter, I gave them little sandbox for dust bathing. You can kind of see her in the top right corner below…
You wouldn't think a grown woman could be so excited about an egg, but I am SO thrilled. Farmer Karen, that's me.

Yeah finally. Well your girls beat my new hens,still waiting in Wyoming for those pretty eggs. My older Aracuana has laid twice in the last week. She hadn’t laid for weeks.
