I got an email this evening from my friend asking if I could paint a princess for her daughter, Zelda. (To whom I'm an honorary aunt! Love that little girl.) I started out doing a rough sketch so I could get an idea of where I wanted to go with the painting. But I kind of got carried away with my colored pencils. 🙂
Now that I've got this blending technique to work with, I'm really loving this medium.
Plus, they're oh-so-portable. Easier even than bringing my watercolors when I travel.
And as with the girl I posted a few days ago…I love this burnishing that happens on the paper, giving it a nice sheen.
So, what started as a sketch is now going to be a collaboration between me and Zelda's mom. Meg is fancy with the sewing, so we're going to design some fabric based around this girl & then we'll see what it becomes. A quilted wall hanging? A little dress? Fun possibilities.
