Tonight's project started with this find in the recycle bin…
They're just cardboard, but they have an interesting structure that makes them really light but super strong. I think I could stand on them and they wouldn't crush. Anyway – they looked like canvases to me!
So out came the gesso and gel medium.
Then some sketching…finding the idea.
And paint… An hour or so later, I had a finished girl!
My goal here was to not think…just play! So each decision was quick, quick, quick. I like how the bird is singing notes right up to her ear.
Am I the only one that has started to see painting surfaces everywhere? :) How about you…do you prefer a traditional canvas? What's the most unusual thing you've painted on?

This is beautiful! I love how you’re playing with leaves. The way they frame this painting is great, and the different color combination–leaves, dress, background–really works.

I love this! Great use of your leaves. ๐ And I love the colors you chose. She looks quite pleased surrounded by leaves and listening to the birdie sing into her ear.

Oh, what fun! I love the way you put all of those things together! And thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. Isn’t mother nature awesome? It scares me and inspires me all at once! Do you get earthquakes with the volcano eruptions? I’m sending good thoughts your way as well! ๐ Silke
Thanks for your nice comments girls! I’ve got stacks of leaves, so I’m sure they’ll keep turning up in things. ๐
Silke, luckily…no earthquakes! None that we can feel here anyway. That would certainly add to the creepiness. +the volcano is finally settling down a bit today. Phew!
