Scientist Girl

So what do you think of this one?  I'm not sure where I got the idea…sometimes the images just pop into my head fully formed and this the skirt/lab coat combo came to me like that.  After I made her though, I started thinking about "what does this painting say?"  Normally I wouldn't be thinking too deeply about it, but I'm taking a Women's Studies class which has made my hyper aware of the subtle (and not so subtle) ways women can be marginalized.  I wonder if someone could look at this girl (woman?) and think a doctor shouldn't have on a tu-tu.  :)  I don't know!

I'm just happy with how her face and hair turned out…this is my second attempt at using the oil paints and I'm really loving it.
