I am loving Shiva Artist Paint Sticks! These are the oil paint crayons that I mentioned a couple days ago. I’ve only ever used acrylics for everything and have been totally happy with that. But these oil paint sticks are sooo creamy and blendable. Love ‘em! The only drawback for my impatient self is that I have to wait a day or 2 for the paint to dry before I can do face details over them. Still…love ‘em.
That I can recall, I’ve only ever taken one art class. (Learned how to make lampwork beads – SO fun!) In general I’m reluctant to take a class because I’m wary of copying other people’s work or ideas. It’s only been in the last year or so that it clicked for me I could learn a new technique and then make it my own. Thankfully that process seems to happen very organically. This is a theme reinforced by the book Taking Flight that I’ve had not far from me for the last 2 weeks. This is one of my works-in-progress inspired by the author, Kelly Rae:
To my eye it doesn't quite look like my own original work yet, but I have faith that it will evolve. And I’m having so much fun learning & playing! ♥
